Sean Hannity Vs. Robert Gibbs
This six-minute gutter brawl between Sean Hannity and Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs that does nothing but lower the public discourse, but is really fun to watch.
I have to say, I think Obama spokesman Gibbs got the best of Hannity. However, his argument that Hannity is responsible for the views of anyone he is interviewing is flawed. Hannity is a news man, however clearly biased he is, it’s his job to interview controversial figures and you could make an argument that to avoid doing so would make him a failure. Barack Obama is not a news man. He is running for the office of President of the United States. He knows damn well his associations with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and radical William Ayers are fair game. His past relationships show that Obama isn’t opposed to surrounding himself with people who (to put it lightly) don’t quite like America. With that in mind, it’s not quite so surprising that wants to powwow with Chavez and Ahmadinejad. He couldn’t change Ayers or Wright, what would make anyone think he can change anyone else? Only 26 days left in this maddening race…

Ugh. I could only watch about half of that. I hate watching a “debate” where the main strategy is “I’m going to keep talking until you shut up”.
I’d have more fun watching two two-year old kids argue over a stuffed animal.
And for the record, I don’t think that Gibbs got the better of Hannity. His argument was idiotic. Talk about a strawman…

It is not that they don’t quite like America, it’s that they don’t like America’s BEHAVIOR.
In 1969 when a group of college students called the Weather Underground announced its intention to overthrow the US government, it was not because they were a bunch of America haters. It’s because they are angry and frustrated about the the Vietnam war. They are reacting to the government that censored and suppressed dissent.
When Hugo Chavez mouths off about the US, I know he is not talking about me personally, or you or the people in general. He is talking about George Bush, and the government in power. The US has a long and checkered past with South America via the CIA. Small wonder that rulers down there may be suspicious or angry.
When Ahmedinejad talks trash about the US, its not the citizens or American ideals he is talking about. It’s the government and George Bush.
You can agree or disagree with these characters, debate the points in either direction. But saying that they are America haters is over simplifying it.
Ayers is now 40 years older, and a different person. The way Hannity talks about him, you would think that today he is plotting against America and apple pies everywhere. If he is actually a terrorist why is he not in jail right now? And trying to connect Obama with Bill Ayers as some sort of terror connection is ridiculous. It shows desperation on the part of the McCain campaign when they could be talking about real policies.
Shawn Hannity has beat this dead horse into the ground. It is not news anymore.

He is so biased with his love that I guarantee that
when his next child is born, his wife will ask “Honey,
what shall we name our daughter?” and without thinking,
he will shout, “Obama”! His wife will ask, ” and the
middle name?” again he will shout “Obama”! His wife will
be puzzled. “…but our daughter should have a name that
is suitable for a female dear”. Hannity will say, with
great emphasis “Obama Obama my dear, and that’s final”!!!!
